Oh yeah, I’m a rock star….

OK, I may recognize that I’m not that great of a singer, but at least I’m not delusional like some of those American Idol hopefuls. Well, I may not be delusional, but I don’t have any problem making a complete fool of myself by trying to sing in public in a karaoke scene.

Yeah, I’m kind of a natural when it comes to Karaoke (I’ve hard it’s Japanese for “tone deaf”). We grew up with a karaoke machine in the house. It spun these awesome LaserDiscs, which is something like a hybrid between an LP and a CD. It’s how I learned hits like “Sunny,” “8 Days a Week,” and “You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling.” Plus, it was great to sing in the house where you didn’t have to worry about too many people listening in on you. I just don’t know how my parents put up with it, to be honest.

Those days are gone and now I’m a grown man – and with such, I’ve had to move out of the house and, naturally, I’ve lost the Karaoke. Unfortunately, Karaoke isn’t as big in the USA as elsewhere and the best deals I’ve found on nice karaoke equipment are almost always overseas (meaning the shipping cost completely negates the good deal).

Preferably, I could set up my own machine in-house and not have to ever sing in public again. I mean, it’s not that I don’t know the dance to “Bye Bye Bye,” but I would honestly avoid any incidents of hitting someone in the eye with an overly-enthusiastic “bye.” So, if anyone knows where I can get a killer deal on some good equipment, I’d appreciate feedback.
