Cell phones to keep in touch? That’s it?

I’ll admit it. I’m a gadget guy. I love gadgets. What value do they add to life? Often, none. But I have to give props to the people who are able to now take stuff that already had a common, useful function and make it a gadget.

A perfect example: the cell phone. A cell phone started out as a phone that you could take anywhere. Remember old cell phones? Pure utility devices. They had a display to show you the number you were dialing and a battery indicator. They had about 12 keys and the fancy ones would flip open and shut.

It’s amazing how things have changed. A cell phone without a QWERTY keyboard is becoming harder to find. There are 1 million accessories available, from ring tones to mobile games and cell phone wallpapers. Cell phone wallpapers? Custom? What happened to a simple display with a few buttons? Gadgetism!

Now I’m not complaining. I think it’s great that Cell phones are so much more than they once were. Many investors are seeing the future of ecommerce going to the phone, even. Now, I love gadgets, but at some point we’re going too far, right? I mean, I can’t imagine being in such a hurry that I can’t go shopping, so I have to just pop in on my phone and grab a new pair of shoes. Well, by any means, props to my gadget-pushers out there.

The necessary and highly-trained professionals is absolutely a must for creation of a masterpiece. This is an axiom for all the world-known directors and producers!

I just saw this horrible post on the most irate superstars and I was completely disgusted. I mean, they’re people, too. There are jerks out there of all professions. The problem is that when you get to superstar status, everybody has this sense of entitlement to know what you’re doing every minute of every day. It’s worse than high school…

We know that many of the best actors and actresses as well as singers are imported from other nations. Not only can the stresses of being a performer wear on you, but long distance friendships left behind and stresses of a new culture can be very emotionally draining. A few tips for surviving follow.

Take things as they come at you. Don’t try to drink in the whole cultural experience all at once. Just take a step at a time. Slowly but surely you’ll pick up what you need to know in order to survive in a strange culture. Also, try to assume the best in people. They’re generally good. Americans can be very sarcastic, so don’t take things too seriously if you’re not used to such interaction. Be patient. Remember that your background and culture are just as strange to others as theirs is to you. Try to put yourself in others’ shoes and consider that, again, most people are pretty good and just want to be happy.

Another key to surviving is to stay in touch with your roots. A calling card is a sound investment. It’s nice to have a solid foundation with some support from friends and family. They know your culture and where you come from and can really serve as an anchor. Get a reasonably priced phone card and remember to keep in touch. Family and friends not only lend support but are a great emotional outlet for sharing feelings of fear or misunderstanding in a new place. Just remember to get an international calling card and not a domestic. Believe it or not, such a thing exists and does *not* let you call internationally without exorbitant costs.
So just hang in there. We’re glad you’re in the US and hope you make the most of your time here. Enjoy the country but keep in touch with home and you’ll do great.

First of all, it is possible to surf the web anonymously and thereby stop leaving a trail for others to find. Note that this is not fool-proof, but it makes it much harder for people to know who you are. There are products called anonymous vpn service that help protect you. The anonymous vpn replaces your Internet address for its own. This has the effect of change your IP address and making it much harder for people to track you.

No. Still, you are much better off if you use such technology.

What other things should I be concerned about when trying to keep my private information private?
Three other items come to mind when trying to keep your information private. First, you can use an encrypted connection to hide your surfing. This article does not go into detail on this, but search the web and you will find a lot of information on this. Secondly, delete cookies after each session. Third, you can configure your browser to remove JavaScript, Java, and active content. This actually leads to limitations, so you need to think about the cost/benefit of this course of action.
