Envelopes at The Parish

The New Pornographers at Stubbs

The New Pornographers are a Vancouver group made up of A.C. Newman and a group of ridiculously talented people he feels are uniquely equipped to realize his musical ambitions. They formed in 1997, almost immediately recorded the classic "Letter From An Occupant," and it was on. Their 2000 debut Mass Romantic and 2003's Electric Version (as well as Newman's 2004 solo debut The Slow Wonder) enjoyed wild critical and public acclaim, and brought a lot of joy to the world.

Humble beginnings. Rumble Strips are four friends from Devon, walking to a different beat from the rest of the crowd. The Young Knives at The Parish

The Young Knives - drummer Oliver Askew, singer/ guitarist Henry Dartnall and his brother The House Of Lords (yes, we?ll come to that) - formed in rocktastic Ashby-de-la-Zouch eight years ago. Being young and daft they spent their time playing bad funk and Ned?s Atomic Dustbin covers until, luckily, university split the band. Four years later; older, wiser and now a bit embarrassed about the Ned?s Atomic Dustbin thing, they decided to reconvene by moving to that other cesspit of punk rock depravity, Oxford.

Bart has been the editor-in-chief of Variety since 1989. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, he was an integral part of Paramount Pictures, when the studio revolutionized the film industry with groundbreaking releases such as The Godfather, Harold and Maude, Rosemary's Baby, and Paper Moon.
