Synopsis:
When an uptight businessman reluctantly teaches a fallen baby bird how to fly, it is he who discovers how to break out of his shell and soar. ÔFirst Flight' is the first original CG short from DreamWorks Animation.
Director's Bio:
Cameron Hood makes his directing debut on ÒFirst FlightÓ- having previously worked on DreamWorks' first animated feature, ÒThe Prince of EgyptÓ, and continuing with significant contributions as an animator on ÒThe Road to El DoradoÓ, ÒSpirit: Stallion of the CimarronÓ, ÒSinbadÓ, the Academy-nominated ÒSharkTaleÓ, and Sony Imageworks' ÒStuart Little 2Ó. A graduate of the Claude Watson High School for the Arts and Sheridan College, Cameron was born and raised in Toronto, Canada and has been teaching at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects for the past four years, where he has a best-selling character animation lecture series.Kyle Jefferson, a Toronto native and graduate of Sheridan College and The Ontario College of Art, began his career as a director of indie music videos at a Canadian media house but soon moved to DreamWorks where he started in the story department for the Academy Award winning ÒShrekÓ. Between further work as an animator on ÒSinbadÓ and ÒSharkTaleÓ, Kyle also worked closely with director Michael Bay building action scene previsualizations for ÒPearl HarborÓ, and on 2002's ÒSpirit: Stallion of the CimarronÓ, was instrumental in aiding the transition from 2D hand drawn layout to the current 3D animatic process.
