The Hot Springs

The Hot Springs get in fights and then go dancing. Their music sounds kind of the same. They live in the arty city of Montreal. The two girls in the band come from hardcore punkland. They are the best ones. The two boys in the band come from indie-rock stupidland. They take naps and cry. Hooked up in the spring of 2004 but when they say spring in The Hot Springs, they're talking gushing geyser thrusting water from the earth's core kind of spring. 5 song e.p. released themselves last March cos they got paid big bucks for playing on T.V.. It’s called “Rock Partouze” which in french means “rock orgy”. This is a play on words. Working on scary-sounding full length to be released on who knows what label for the spring. (for sneak preview check out their myspace page: www.myspace.com/thehotsprings)
Singer/Guitarist Giselle Webber, whose voice has been compared to diva hotties like Björk and Joan Jett, happily avoids the rock poze cheese, and delighted crowds with on-stage merriment. The press couldn't get enough of 'em, and they suceeded in winning the hearts of both the anglos and the francos in Montreal, something that doesn't happen here very often. Summer 2005 was spent touring eastern Canada as part of the Pop Montreal sold-out promo tour with Malajube. They are currently in the studio working on pre-production at Montreal's Breakglass studios for their upcoming full-length release, produced by Bionic's Jonathan Cummins. The Hot Springs have played with many fantastic people so far, including: Malajube, Pretty Girls Make Graves, North of America, Chinese Stars, The Creeping Nobodies, Telefauna, Th' Corn Gangg, Ted Leo and The Pharmacists, Chad Van Gaalen, Lovely Feathers, The Adam Brown, Fred Fortin, Think About Life, Illuminati, and Priestess. Go check those guys out too, they're good times. |
