Sounding like Elvis Costello mixed with Tom Waits, with a hint of The Replacements and Nick Lowe; Jay Bennett was a significant force behind Wilco for 7 years. Jay made his studio debut with Wilco on 1996's Being There, and stayed through the final sessions of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Bennett also contributed heavily to Mermaid Avenue, Volume I and Volume 2 - a joint project with Billy Bragg. Since leaving Wilco, Jay has released three records - 2002's The Palace at 4 a.m. (Part 1) with Edward Burch, and 2004’s Beloved Enemy and Bigger than Blue – and produced multiple projects, including Blues Traveler's Bastardos!, released in 2005. Jay is due to have a new record out in 2006, and will tour both the US and Europe.
