From New York via Albuquerque, 19 year old Zach Condon constructed Beirut's songs, using ukeleles, accordions, pianos, trumpets, violins, cellos and percussion. Influenced by his travels through Europe, Condon's music cojoins Balkan folk melodies with French chanteurs and a dose of Tropicalia into emotionally stirring pop songs and dirges. Fans of Neutral Milk Hotel, Magnetic Fields, Antony & The Johnsons, Caetano Veloso, Taraf De Haidouks and Yves Montand will no doubt discover a new favorite here.
