DJ Rapid Ric
Genre: DJ Hometown: Austin TX

RAPID RIC “Rapid Ric is one of the fastest rising DJ’s in the South right now, and it’s mostly because of the skill he brings to his art form.” – Chamillionaire At only 24 years old, "Mixtape Mechanic" Rapid Ric is already Texas' finest mixtape DJ and a rising young entrepreneur. Every mixtape he dropped in 2005 (Z-Ro’s Greatest Verses, Whut It Dew 2, Afta Da Relays, Getcha Weight Up, King of the Trill, Whut it Dew 3) boosted his star higher as Texas stayed hot on Atlanta's heels as the next big thing in Southern hip-hop music. Pioneered by DJ Screw and the city of Houston’s leading rap hustlers, Texas’ slow and soulful underground movement went mainstream in 2005. Millions of CD’s by Texas artists flew off the shelves as MTV and even the New York Times , co-signed the Lone Star State. Rapid Ric mans the pipeline of the Lone Star State's top talent, furthering the self-made legacy of Screw, Swishahouse’s Michael Watts, Chamillitary’s O.G. Ron C and Slim Thug’s Boss Hogg Outlaws. Rapid Ric’s Whut it Dew series have solidified his niche as a trendsetter and tastemaker by progressing Texas’ regional street sound. “He’s a phenomenal DJ, one of my personal favorites. His song selection, remixes, cuts and scratches are off the hook.” – Paul Wall One of too few DJ’s focused on actual mixing, Rapid Ric has garnered praise from The Source, XXL, Scratch, Ozone, Down, Hip Hop Connection in England … from numerous Mixtape Mondays on MTV to New York times coverage and a full-page local feature in the Austin Chronicle. Rapid Ric has worked and performed alongside Snoop Dogg, Bun B of UGK, Scarface, Too Short, Ying Yang Twins, Ciara, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Youngbloods, David Banner, Lil' Flip, Slim Thug, Lil’ Webbie. While making plans for a proper album called “Deep in the Hood of Texas”, Rapid Ric has also pushed Greatest Verses mixes to promote Texas superstars Bun B and Z-Ro’s album sales. Supporting and introducing rising local and regional talent has led to him making mixed intros for releases by Chamillionaire, O.G. Ron C and Killa Kyleon. A regular mixer on Austin's Emmis-owned KDHT "Hot" 93.3 FM for the past two years, Ric’s weekly Mixtape FM show debuts Texas street hits on Saturday nights. He is seeking radio and satellite syndication for Mixtape FM. Unlike most Southern mixtape dj’s, Rapid Ric also spins at live events, including all of Hot 93’s concerts, two Austin weeklies and six Oxtycottontail parties in New York City in the past year. He played five times at the 2005 South by Southwest festival and sat on panel at the ’05 CMJ conference with Green Lantern and Consequence. The inaugural member of Justo Best Southern Mixtape DJ O.G. Ron C's Chop Stars, DJ Rapid Ric is nominated for seven 2005-06 Southern Entertainment Awards and was is listed as Murder Dog Magazine’s Top Ten DJ’s of 2005.
